This location tucked in the base of the mountains was one of those hidden little gems known only by the locals. I had decided one day I was going to go explore before shooting this Palmer Lake Reservoir boudoir photography session. Once I got there and hiked up a bit I could tell it was a beautiful location. After a fresh layer of snow everything glistened and it was so peaceful, I loved it.

When I met up with Miss Madysen she had brought along a friend and we did introductions. I eluded to the fact that there would be a fair amount of hiking to get to the spots. As we got underway I quickly remembered how far up it goes and how long it takes to get there. So we stopped along the way and did some shots as we caught our breath. Then we would continue onward and upward until we found the first reservoir.

It was a cold afternoon as the sun set behind the mountain tops. We did our best to be quick with shots as we got them and then changed out wardrobe. I found a spot at the top right when we got to the reservoir and camped out here for a little. We began grabbing some of our favorite shots from the session here. The sun was coming in nicely for this spot, which we definitely love to work with. I worked with a few different posing ideas and concepts and got some great shots. We do our best to keep things fresh and different for each session trying out poses we know work. We’ll also mix in a few new ideas every time we shoot to incorporate some creativity and diversity.

We wrapped up the session by going down near the water that fed into the reservoir. At this spot we got some more great shots before having her bundle up and head back down the mountain. When we got to the bottom, Miss Makenzie realized that she had left a shoe all the way back up at the top. I had to get going and felt bad to leave but they set out to go get it back.
